Escola Waldorf Pomar

Created in 2006, the Waldorf Pomar School in Ribeirão Pires is the pioneer in the practice of Waldorf Pedagogy in the ABCD Region, serving children from Nursery up to the 8th grade of Elementary School.

The physical facilities of the school were built on a plot of 12,000 m2, inserted in an extensive area of 92,000 m2 of preserved native forest. Natural vegetation covers most of the school, with an extensive lawn and an orchard with more than 10 types of fruit (hence the name of the school). Chickens, sheep, rabbits and tortoises, donated by people in our community, make up, together with insects and wild animals, a scenario of integration and coexistence with nature.

In October 2006 the Centro Educacional Pomar was inaugurated. The beginning of teaching activities took place in January 2007, with 6 students. At the end of that same year, the school had 17 kindergarten students. Three years later, the school was growing and closing the 2010 school year with 53 students. In 2011, with a class of 11 students, elementary school began (1st to 4th grade). In 2014, it was renamed the Escola Waldorf Pomar, emphasizing the Pedagogy adopted since its foundation, and surpassing the mark of 100 students. In that same year, elementary school expanded (5th to 8th grade) and the Pomar Associação Pedagógica, co-sponsor of the school, was formalized.
