Blossoms for the bees - the horticultural teachers of the North are getting active

Neumünster is in the center of Schleswig-Holstein and in its center is Max-Röer-Platz. It was precisely at this location that the horticulture teachers of the north wanted to become active in order to create a richly set flower table for our insect world in a joint action.

On September 22, 2018, the time had come: they came from all over northern Germany - the horticultural teachers of 10 Waldorf schools. They had more than 4,000 flower bulbs in their luggage – crocuses, daffodils and pearl hyacinths. These were planted together with energetic students from the Neumünster Waldorf School around the "Networked Worlds" monument on Max-Röer-Platz.

The reason for the campaign is the anniversary year "Waldorf 100". In 2019 the Waldorf school movement will be 100 years old. Under the motto "Bees & Trees”, the Waldorf schools would like to promote the establishment of bee colonies and contribute to the preservation and upgrading of their habitats.

In spring 2019, the planted crocuses in Neumünster should then become nectar and pollen pasture for bees and a feast for the eyes of passers-by. The city of Neumünster, partner of the project, embedded a donor plaque in the ground in the park, which reads that this is a joint project of the horticultural teachers of the North German Waldorf schools. The LAG Schleswig-Holstein kindly covered the cost of making the plaque. We're already looking forward to a sea of blossoms that's buzzing wildly and we'd like to thank everyone who helped make this project a reality!
