Planters with honey plants

The objective of the project was to involve children and parents in the creation of gardens with honey plants, both at home and on the school grounds, in order to contribute a grain of sand to the conservation of bees wild. The first phase consisted of planting honey plants in two areas of the school and the second phase consisted of giving the families of the school community plants to plant in their gardens at home.

In phase one, students from the 3rd, 4th and 7th graders planted a total of 95 honey plants (some of them endemic): lavender, rosemary, huizache, mimosa, papaya, lemon, tangerine, calistemo, basil, sage, thyme, estafiate, among others .

In phase two, families who wanted to participate in this project were invited to take plants to plant in their homes. The plants (a tree or bush or two small ones) were given to those interested and an information table was set up at the exit talking about the project and the importance of bees. A total of 90 plants (same as those planted in the school plus casahuates and calagualas, endemic trees) were delivered to families, staff and teachers of the school.
