Short description of the project: Since January 2014 there is our KinderSinnesGarten. The aim of our parents' initiative is to show children at an early age how much diversity there is in our flora and fauna and how everything is connected. Planting seeds and bulbs, watching plants sprout, digging in the ground with your hands and picking delicious fruit – gardening is fun for children. Wild bees and bumblebees have a central place in our garden project. We build individual nesting aids with the children, then observe their colonization and the activities on the different flowers in the garden. The preschool children experience the bee year in a playful and holistic way. For 2019 we have planned to also focus on the honey bee for the children, parents, educators and friends of the kindergarten. We are planning a lecture and a workshop on humane beekeeping, want to intensify the cooperation with the horticultural department of the neighboring Waldorf school (some bee colonies live there) and are planting 100 new bee-friendly perennials and shrubs in the KinderSinnesGarten.
