“One hundred bees for Waldorf 100” is a project based on ecological - social and cultural - artistic aspects. The project is developed by Kaunas Waldorf Kindergarten “The Spring” (Kauno Valdorfo darželis „Šaltinėlis“).
The project aims to initiate changes in our minds related to ecological awareness development and to wake up our consciousness for brighter tomorrow where not only people, who are friendly, conscious, open to nature, but also bees would find a place and correct space in our world. Therefore all mentioned aspects are important and their relation and harmony inside each person could help to have a better world.
As in every spring, preschoolers of our kindergarten visit the farm to observe bees’ life, children taste fresh honey and learn how important is bees living on our land, what we should do that the bees would not die, how each of us could help them (photo 1).
We have environmental management works every spring, therefore, this year it was slightly different, as our minds and hearts were focused on maintenance of Waldorf 100 idea: to help the bees to live in our world. Our community - families together with the teachers - began to implement the environmental project not only for the improvement of children environment, but also for the bees by doing a spiral of flowers and "stepping stones" inside it (photo 2).
During the Spring Festival we started a cultural artistic project - "One hundred bees for Waldorf 100". Children, parents, teachers produced the bees from alder cones, wool, silk and wax. It was amazing: the lovely cooperation and handmade artworks together (photo 3).
Hopefully by the end of the project, which will finish late in the autumn, when the bees safely will come back to their houses to sleep, in our kindergarten and in each kid’s home there will settle down hundred bees for Waldorf!
